Teaching foreign languages to Moroccan children and youth
Rabat       2 - 12 months

Volunteer project: The aim of this project is to provide free educational support and linguistic reinforcement to children and young people currently attending school or university. In Morocco’s public schools, the deliverance of language classes is compromised by many factors such as crowded classrooms and lack of trained teachers due to an overall low education level especially when it comes to English. Private summer lessons are of course available but too expansive for most families. This project offers the most disadvantaged students the opportunity to achieve a higher academic level.

The volunteers will teach one or two foreign languages (English / French / Spanish / Italian / German) to children and young people. Volunteers' main tasks include teaching, organizing activities and preparing lessons. Besides the language classes, the volunteers and the students will also participate in theatre, seminars, excursions and cultural activities.

Location: Casablanca, in Arabic Dar El Baida, is the biggest city in Morocco and actually in the Magheb region. It is the economic and business center of Morocco. Casablanca is one of the most important cities in Africa, demographically and economically, being one of the largest financial centers in the continent. Its port is one of the largest artificial ports in the world and the primary naval base of the Moroccan Navy.

Completed in 1993 after many years in construction, the Hassan II Mosque is among Africa's largest, with one of the world's tallest minarets to boot. It really is one of the jewels of Morocco, as it is built on the seafront and its minaret is equipped with a laser that beams toward Mecca. What makes it even more special is the fact that it is one of the few mosques allowing non-Muslims visitors into its halls.

Casablanca’s central market is small and manageable. White-walled stalls with green clay tile roofs dotted with foliage are dreamed Instagram material. You will find any kind of produce, nuts and dates, and argan oil - the traditional Moroccan elixir for most everything. Linger long enough and eventually you will see the vendors line up for the call to prayer, and then join them for a quick tagine lunch.

The Aïn-Diab coast, the seaside annex of the city, is a traditional evening meeting point for locals, especially on weekends. You can find plenty of trendy restaurants and popular pubs; some of them have been there since the 30’s and offer seawater swimming pools.

Education and integration program for immigrants and refugees
Rabat       2 - 12 months

Volunteer project: The aim of this program is to give the chance to immigrants and refugees currently in Morocco to master basic skills and improve their communication skills in order to encourage their integration and make it more likely for them to find a job.
Geographically and figuratively speaking, Morocco is the “Door to Europe”. Each year many immigrants and refugees from southern countries of Africa arrive illegally in the country and frequently get stuck for a while in bad living conditions. National programs exist to offer them educational, professional and cultural support reflecting the tradition of solidarity and hospitality that characterizes Morocco.

The international volunteers will work as a team with local volunteers, therefore they will be able to observe and discover not only the immigrants’ way of life but also Moroccans’ habits and culture though practical and social involvement. This kind of project is usually very rewarding on a personal level for the volunteers because if their involvement is genuine they will quickly feel they are making a real change in the lives of the refugees whose only chance to get access to a better education is this type of program. By working closely with local volunteers, the international ones will have the opportunity to quickly develop ties with locals and get involved in the community not only at work but outside as well.

Volunteer tasks:
• Non-formal teaching of French, English, basic Math for the youngest, etc.
• Take part and/or organize sport activities and recreation programs.
• Promote the diversity of cultural expressions (try to organize a cultural activity once every 2 weeks)

The volunteers will be able to take part in all the other activities that the local volunteers are already carrying out with immigrants and refugees (especially children and teenagers) in a center in Rabat.

Special requirements:
• To have common sense and assertion
• Strong motivation
• To believe in cultural exchanges when it comes to promoting peace and stability
• To be able to take initiative
• Flexibility, responsibility and patience
• To be willing to get involved in all the activities that will be carried out with the local volunteers: language support, cuisine workshops, support sports activities, etc.

• Help with feeding the babies and carry out outdoor activities
• Learn about procedures of adoption and circumcision in order to be able to give extra help in the matter in case of need.
• Take initiative and propose activities/workshops (e.g. music, painting, etc.)

The association provides training and legal advice for women and holds conferences and manifestations to discuss and advocate for women’s rights.

The association fights for women equality and women empowering. Their wish is to strengthen the concept of citizenship and women’s rights in developing societies, especially in North Africa. In 2014, the association was granted the status of ECOSOC consultant for its efforts and actions in favour of women’s rights in Morocco. Since then, the association can participate in UN sessions and meetings and discuss its initiatives with the international community.

• Training the new generation on advocacy strategies
