Jazz Festival in the medieval town of Crest
Crest, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes July 19 - August 6, 2025
Volunteer project: Every year, the Crest Jazz Festival is the highlight of the summer in town. For over 10 years, teams of international volunteers have been helping in its organization. Recognized in the world of the Jazz scene, this festival welcomes nearly 10,000 spectators each year. For one week, national and international established artists such as Jacques Dutronc, Ayo, Swing Machine Big Bang or Stanley Clarke and young talents take turns to deliver quality concerts, which you can attend for free. This event requires an important material preparation and mobilizes a hundred volunteers. Your mission will be to bring your support before, during and after the festival.
You will participate in the life of the festival. You will help with the installation of the festival facilities: setting up the two scenes, the dressing rooms, the bar, the cafeteria, the offices. And at the end of the festival you will help dismantling and tidying up all of the equipment. During the festival, you will regularly clean the site and will participate in the waste management by respecting the selective collection and recycling. On certain evenings, you will participate in the sale of drinks and souvenirs at the stands.
The working hours are usually 3 to 4 hours in the morning, but it can vary depending on the needs. The rest of the time will be dedicated to leisure and group life.
Your strong motivation is essential in this project. The tasks on the festival site can be physical and messy (equipment transportation) but are essential to the festival’s success. You must be particularly dynamic, enthusiastic and ready to meet the public and the many volunteers present. This project will allow you to learn about the logistics necessary for setting up and running a festival. You will develop your capacities of adaptability, versatility and responsibility. Your dynamism and your reactivity will also be reinforced.

Location: Located in the Drôme valley, in the south of the Vercors regional park, the town of Crest has 9000 residents. Dominated by its medieval tower (52m high), the town has a remarkable heritage. Crest is very busy in the summer time, and offers many sports and cultural activities. Towns nearby: Montélimar (40 km) and Valence (30 km).
