Teaching English and supporting the charity work of Buddhist monks
Naung Thaya, Shan       April 25 - May 8, 2017

Volunteer project: The volunteer project takes place in Baung Yaycho Charity Monastery. There are over 90 boy students who live year round in the dormitory of the monastery and attend government high school in the village.

The volunteers will help in the school and in the local community. They will be also cleaning and cooking for the students together with local volunteers from the monastery. Teaching English, sharing social knowledge and working in the farm are also among the volunteer tasks.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a Buddhist monastery. The monastery also provides locally cooked fresh food for the volunteers.

Location: Located in Naung Thaya township in Shan State. The landscape consists of mountains, farms and many tropical plants. This is a mainly agricultural area, very peaceful and calm.

Terminal: Yangon

Age range: 18 and over

Extra fee: 200 USD

Help a village with farming and education
Ywar Ngan, Shan       November 28 - December 10, 2017

Volunteer project: Before the beginning of the international volunteer projects in Ywar Ngan, the local people have never encountered foreigners in their community. The local young people need to improve their knowledge on globalization, English proficiency and cultural exchange. There’s also a need of educating the community about agriculture and environmental awareness.

The volunteers will take part in the life of the village by helping the community in their field work. There will be various farming tasks such as planting, paddy harvesting, picking fruit and coffee, digging, etc. The volunteers will also teach children from grade 5 to 7, and share knowledge with the local community.

Language: English

Accommodation: Homestay in a house in the village.

Location: It is located in Taung Khaung Pwar village, Ywar Ngan township in Shan State. The area is peaceful and calm, with mountains and farms around. There are ancient caves, waterfalls and ancient pagodas nearby.

Terminal: Yangon

Volunteer in a Buddhist monastery
Naung Shwe, Shan       August 20 - September 2, 2017
Naung Shwe, Shan       December 26, 2017 – January 8, 2018

Volunteer project: Volunteer help is needed in a youth development centre in a Buddhist monastery in Naung Shwe township. There are over 1000 students of diverse ethnic groups: Paoh, Lesu, Kayan, Kayah, InnThar, Danu, Shan and Taung Yoe who come from different villages. They live in the dormitory of the monastery and attend government high school near the monastery.

The volunteers will participate in the activities of the monastery and help the local community. They will be teaching English and other social classes, working in the farm and helping with construction tasks. The volunteers will be also playing with kids from the kindergarten, and cleaning and cooking for the students together with local volunteers from the monastery.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a Buddhist monastery. The monastery also provides locally cooked fresh food for the volunteers.

Location: The project takes place in Naung Shwe township in Shan State near to Kayah State. The area is 2000 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains and lakes. This is a predominantly agricultural region, very peaceful and calm. The mode of transportation between villages is mainly by boat.
