Maintenance of hiking paths in the
UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Volunteer project: The Biosphere Reserve Grosses Walsertal is a model region for sustainable development in the alpine area of Austria located in Vorarlberg, the most western region of Austria. The Grosses Walsertal was certified as UNESCO Biosphere Reserve according to the Man and Biosphere Programme in 2000.
In cooperation with the 4 local communities the volunteers will maintain the system of hiking paths in the valley “Grosses Walsertal” (cutting grass and bushes, renewing steps and railings, signposting…). Local professionals will introduce the work and the tasks. The work will be physically hard in parts and the paths might be steep and far away from the accommodation. Please be prepared to work outside under various weather conditions!
The region is famous for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. Many tourists come to enjoy this beautiful landscape. You will also get to know about the environmental background of the Biosphere Reserve. As the valley and the mountains are really beautiful, hiking will be the favourite leisure time activity. But you will also have the chance to visit some museums (about local heritage and culture). Other sports besides hiking are possible as well. Language: English Accommodation: In a building. Next big city: Feldkirch Next train station: Nenzing und Bludenz Age range: 18 - 30 years old
A perfect
project for mountain lovers and for those who are used to be
outside!
